Hey crypto addicts,
S&P Global is expanding deeper into blockchain infrastructure after agreeing to acquire OpenZeppelin, a major smart contract security firm. OpenZeppelin’s technology has supported more than $37 trillion in transferred value across stablecoins, tokenized funds, and DeFi. The deal gives S&P direct exposure to the security layer supporting the growing onchain economy.
OpenZeppelin will continue operating under its existing name, with CEO Demian Brener remaining in charge. Its open-source Contracts library will also remain publicly available, while S&P plans to combine its financial data and risk expertise with OpenZeppelin’s security technology. The deal follows S&P’s recent $110 million investment in crypto data firm Kaiko.
The acquisition highlights growing institutional investment in the infrastructure behind tokenized markets. As more financial activity moves onchain, security and risk management are becoming increasingly important.☕

Wall Street Onchain

U.S. stocks are getting a new path onto blockchain rails after the SEC granted tokenized securities venues a five-year exemption. The framework allows eligible platforms to trade tokenized U.S. stocks through permissioned automated market makers and liquidity pools. It marks a major step toward bringing traditional equities into onchain markets.
The exemption comes with strict conditions, including trading limits, public and auditable smart contracts, and the requirement that tokenized shares provide the same rights as traditional stocks. Companies must also be notified before third-party tokenized versions of their shares are listed and can object to the listing. Synthetic tokens that only track stock prices without representing ownership are excluded.
The move could open the door to faster settlement, extended trading hours, fractional ownership, and deeper integration between crypto infrastructure and traditional finance. With major platforms already exploring tokenized equities, the next five years could become an important testing ground for onchain stock markets.☕
H100 Doubles Down

H100 CEO Eirik Grøttum is increasing his exposure to the Bitcoin treasury company after purchasing 407,163 shares through an associated company for SEK 621,887. The purchase brings entities linked to Grøttum to more than 5.3 million H100 shares. Meanwhile, H100 continues to hold 3,506.4 BTC following its major Norwegian acquisition in August.
The latest share purchase is separate from H100’s Bitcoin holdings, which jumped from 1,051 BTC to 3,506.4 BTC after the acquisition added 2,455.37 BTC without cash consideration. H100 funded the deal by issuing 790.5 million new shares, significantly expanding its share count. The company is also considering future share buybacks, although no program has been approved.
The move highlights how Bitcoin treasury companies are increasingly using both acquisitions and capital-market strategies to build crypto exposure. With more than 3,500 BTC on its balance sheet, H100 is now one of Europe’s larger publicly listed Bitcoin holders.☕
FCA Targets P2P

The UK Financial Conduct Authority is stepping up its crackdown on illegal peer-to-peer crypto trading in London. The regulator, working with HMRC and the Metropolitan Police, targeted three premises on September 10 and issued cease-and-desist letters to suspected unregistered operators. The FCA says there are currently no registered peer-to-peer crypto businesses operating in the UK.
The latest action follows a similar operation targeting eight London locations in April. While personal peer-to-peer transactions do not require FCA registration, businesses conducting crypto trading must meet the required registration and anti-money-laundering rules. Authorities say unregistered operations can create channels for moving and laundering illicit funds.
The crackdown comes as the UK prepares to expand its crypto regulatory framework, with applications for the new authorization regime opening on September 30, 2026. The move signals tighter oversight as crypto activity becomes more integrated into the financial system.☕
