Hey crypto addicts,
A debate between two of crypto's biggest names is putting the spotlight on a much bigger question:
How should companies build long-term value in crypto?
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has publicly criticized Michael Saylor's strategy of repeatedly raising capital through preferred stock and other financial instruments to buy more Bitcoin. While Garlinghouse emphasized that he remains bullish on Bitcoin, he questioned whether continually relying on debt and capital markets is a sustainable long-term strategy.
The comments come as Strategy's aggressive Bitcoin accumulation model faces increasing scrutiny from analysts, with some suggesting the company should prioritize strengthening its balance sheet before adding more BTC. Others argue Saylor's approach has been one of the most successful corporate investment strategies in recent history, transforming Strategy into one of the world's largest Bitcoin holders.
The discussion highlights two very different philosophies.
One believes long-term value comes from accumulating the hardest asset ever created.
The other believes sustainable growth comes from building products, expanding adoption, and creating real-world utility.
Neither approach is guaranteed to be right.
But as crypto continues to mature, debates like this are becoming less about which coin will outperform next and more about what successful crypto businesses will look like over the next decade.
It's a conversation that could shape the industry's future just as much as the next bull market. ☕

Stablecoins Arrive Soon

Hong Kong is about to take another major step in its digital asset strategy.
Officials have confirmed that the city's first regulated stablecoins are expected to launch between mid-2026 and the second half of the year, following the approval of the first licensed issuers earlier this year. The rollout is designed to move stablecoins beyond speculation and into real-world payments, cross-border transactions, and tokenized asset settlement.
What's notable isn't just the launch itself.
Hong Kong is building one of the world's first fully regulated stablecoin ecosystems, with strict licensing requirements, reserve standards, and regulatory oversight aimed at attracting banks and institutional participants rather than simply encouraging crypto speculation.
If the rollout is successful, it could strengthen Hong Kong's position as one of Asia's leading digital asset hubs and provide a blueprint for other financial centres considering regulated stablecoin frameworks.
The race to become the global home for digital finance is well underway.
And Hong Kong clearly wants to be at the front of the pack. ☕
Bitcoin Goes DeFi

Bitcoin is the biggest asset in crypto.
So why can't it be used across most of DeFi?
That's where Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) comes in. WBTC is an ERC-20 token backed 1:1 by real Bitcoin, allowing BTC holders to use their Bitcoin on Ethereum for lending, borrowing, trading, and providing liquidity, without selling their BTC.
The concept is simple.
Lock Bitcoin with a custodian, mint an equivalent amount of WBTC on Ethereum, and unlock access to thousands of decentralized finance applications that native Bitcoin can't interact with. When users want their Bitcoin back, the WBTC is burned and the original BTC is released from reserve.
Of course, there are trade-offs.
Unlike holding native Bitcoin, WBTC relies on custodians, smart contracts, and a mint-and-burn system, meaning users take on additional counterparty and technical risks in exchange for greater utility.
As Bitcoin's role in DeFi continues to expand, Wrapped Bitcoin remains one of the most widely used bridges between the world's largest cryptocurrency and Ethereum's growing financial ecosystem.
SoftBank Slides

The AI boom hit an unexpected speed bump.
SoftBank shares fell sharply after reports suggested OpenAI is considering delaying its highly anticipated IPO until 2027instead of listing sooner at a lower valuation. With SoftBank committing more than $64 billion to OpenAI, investors have increasingly viewed the company as one of the biggest public bets on AI's future.
The delay doesn't change OpenAI's long-term ambitions.
Instead, it reflects a desire to preserve a potential $1 trillion valuation rather than rushing to market under weaker conditions. For investors, however, it means waiting longer before OpenAI receives its first public market valuation.
The reaction also highlights how closely AI sentiment is tied to financial markets. When expectations around one of the world's most valuable private companies change, the effects can ripple through investors, venture capital, and the broader tech sector.
The AI story is still very much alive.
But even the biggest companies are discovering that timing can be just as important as technology. ☕

Base has released a post-mortem explaining the back-to-back network outages that temporarily halted block production, revealing that the issue was caused by a sequencer bug during the network's failover process. According to the team, no user funds were affected, and the incident stemmed from infrastructure responsible for ordering transactions rather than the underlying blockchain itself.
According to CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost, onchain data tracking unspent transaction outputs (UTXOs) shows that the ratio of Bitcoin being spent at a profit versus a loss has fallen to its lowest level of this cycle. Historically, this type of capitulation has often appeared near major market bottoms.
Crypto-related stocks are struggling to keep up with the broader technology sector as the recent market downturn continues to weigh on digital asset companies. Shares of firms such as Coinbase, Circle, and major Bitcoin miners have underperformed many large-cap tech names, reflecting weaker crypto prices, softer trading activity, and cautious investor sentiment.
