Hey crypto addicts,

A Bitcoin wallet linked to convicted Irish drug dealer Clifton Collins has moved 500 BTC worth around $39.56 millionto Coinbase Prime after the coins were believed to be inaccessible for years due to lost private keys. The wallet was part of a larger stash of roughly 6,000 BTC.

Irish authorities had previously recovered 1,500 BTC from the wallet group with help from Europol. However, the latest transfer has not been officially confirmed as an authority-led recovery.

The transfer also does not mean the Bitcoin was sold. Coinbase Prime provides custody and trading services, meaning the BTC could have been moved for several reasons. Still, the transaction highlights how long-dormant Bitcoin wallets can suddenly become active and potentially return significant amounts of BTC to circulation.☕

JPMorgan Embraces Stablecoins

JPMorgan is reportedly exploring the possibility of launching a public stablecoin, marking a major shift for one of the world's largest banks. The move comes as demand for digital dollars grows and new U.S. regulations provide banks with a clearer path into the stablecoin market.

JPMorgan already operates JPM Coin for institutional clients, but a public stablecoin could enable broader use across digital payments and blockchain networks. The bank is also expanding its blockchain infrastructure, highlighting how traditional finance is increasingly moving toward tokenized money.

The bigger story is the growing competition between banks and crypto-native stablecoin issuers. With major financial institutions exploring their own digital dollars, stablecoins could become a key battleground between traditional banking and the crypto industry as adoption accelerates. ☕

Trump Crypto Bank

A UAE-backed entity linked to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan, the UAE's national security adviser, reportedly holds a 49% stake in the holding company behind the Trump family's proposed crypto bank. The development comes shortly after U.S. regulators granted preliminary approval for World Liberty Trust to become a federally regulated national trust bank.

The proposed bank would issue, redeem and hold reserves for USD1, World Liberty Financial's dollar-backed stablecoin, which has grown to more than $4 billion in circulation. The charter would also allow the company to provide institutional digital-asset custody and related services.

The ownership structure is attracting significant political and regulatory scrutiny because of the connections between the Trump family, UAE investment interests and U.S. policy. The OCC approval remains conditional, meaning the bank must satisfy additional regulatory requirements before it can begin full operations. ☕

Crypto Funding Surges

Crypto and blockchain companies raised a combined $184.1 million across eight disclosed funding rounds between August 22 and 28, highlighting renewed investor appetite for digital asset infrastructure. The largest deal came from RQD Clearing, which secured $74 million to expand its clearing, custody and digital asset infrastructure across the U.S., Europe and Asia.

Stablecoin banking platform Fasset followed with a $68 million Series C led by Japan's SBI Group, giving the company a $1 billion valuation. The funding will support stablecoin payments, tokenized assets, AI-powered financial tools and expansion of its international payment network.

The funding trend shows that institutional capital is increasingly flowing toward crypto infrastructure, stablecoins, tokenization and on-chain finance, rather than purely speculative projects. This could signal a broader shift toward building the financial infrastructure needed for mainstream digital asset adoption.☕

Russia's largest bank, Sber, plans to expand its crypto-backed lending by accepting Bitcoin, Ether and USDT as collateral as the country introduces a regulated crypto market. The move follows new legislation giving the Bank of Russia authority to approve digital assets for exchange trading, with BTC, ETH and USDT among the assets proposed.

Polygon has disclosed several previously private security vulnerabilities affecting its proof-of-stake network, which were already patched through the recent Austin and Kyoto hard forks. The flaws affected the Bor and Heimdall clients and included denial-of-service risks, validator resource exhaustion and issues with checkpoint processing.
