Hey crypto addicts,

Ethereum’s upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade could help ease congestion across decentralized finance by making complex transactions more reliable during periods of heavy network activity. Curve Finance says its tests found that a leveraged borrowing transaction consumed roughly 1.84 million gas, nearly 15 times the 125,000 gas required for a direct stablecoin swap. The findings highlight why improving access to blockspace could be especially important for traders managing leveraged positions and executing multi-step transactions.

The upgrade is designed to increase Ethereum’s processing capacity while improving how transactions are built and validated. Curve expects these changes could benefit borrowers, arbitrage traders, and liquidators by helping transactions execute more predictably when demand spikes. However, the team cautions that higher capacity alone will not guarantee lower fees, particularly as proposed changes to gas pricing could make certain operations more expensive.

The bigger picture is that Ethereum is working to scale its main network without compromising decentralization or making it harder for independent validators to verify transactions. If Glamsterdam delivers more consistent execution under real-world demand, it could strengthen Ethereum’s position as a foundation for DeFi activity. Crypto Crime Crackdown

ACAMS and blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis are expanding their partnership to strengthen crypto crime investigations, following an estimated $17 billion in cryptocurrency losses from scams and fraud during 2025. The organizations are updating ACAMS’ crypto anti-financial crime certification to help compliance professionals identify suspicious transactions and investigate emerging threats as digital assets become more integrated into global finance.

The updated program will cover blockchain fundamentals, crypto-related financial crime, compliance frameworks, and practical investigation case studies. ACAMS said 79% of surveyed anti-financial crime professionals identified crypto and digital assets as their biggest knowledge gap, highlighting the growing demand for specialized training. The revised certification is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026.

The bigger picture is that combating crypto crime requires stronger compliance systems and better blockchain investigation skills. As illicit activity becomes more sophisticated, trained professionals will be increasingly important in protecting the digital-asset ecosystem. Here’s what you need to know from today’s crypto market.☕

UK Targets Crypto

The United Kingdom has imposed new sanctions on three crypto exchanges, two payment platforms, and an individual accused of helping Russia evade international financial restrictions. Announced on October 8, the measures target businesses suspected of facilitating transactions linked to the Kremlin-backed A7 financial network, which claimed to have moved more than $90 billion during 2025. The action forms part of a wider package of 38 designations targeting Russia’s financial services, oil revenues, and military supply chains.

Among the targeted businesses are services linked to Cryptomus, Heleket, and TokenSpot, while British authorities suspect two platforms processed or facilitated transactions involving A7. The sanctions aim to restrict access to financial services and make it harder for Russia-linked networks to move money internationally. The move follows similar U.S. and European efforts to disrupt crypto infrastructure allegedly used to bypass sanctions.

The broader message is that crypto platforms are facing increasing scrutiny over their role in international sanctions enforcement. As governments expand efforts to trace and restrict illicit financial flows, exchanges and payment providers may face greater compliance obligations across jurisdictions. Europe Tightens Oversight

European lawmakers are urging the European Commission to address corruption risks linked to crypto assets, hidden ownership structures, and digital technologies. On October 8, the European Parliament adopted a nonbinding resolution calling for stronger measures to trace, freeze, confiscate, and recover proceeds connected to criminal activity. The recommendations will help shape the EU’s upcoming anti-corruption strategy, expected by the end of 2026.

The proposals extend beyond crypto, calling for stronger oversight of public procurement, political financing, and lobbying, alongside better protections for whistleblowers and investigative journalists. Lawmakers also want authorities to make greater use of digital tools and blockchain analysis to identify illicit transactions and recover stolen funds. However, the resolution does not introduce immediate new restrictions on cryptocurrency transactions or create fresh compliance obligations for crypto businesses.

The bigger picture is that crypto regulation in Europe is increasingly focused on transparency, enforcement, and financial crime prevention. As digital assets become more integrated into the financial system, exchanges and other service providers may face closer scrutiny as the EU strengthens its anti-corruption framework.
