Hey crypto addicts,

Hong Kong has sent a clear warning about the risks surrounding crypto’s growing role in global finance. Former China Construction Bank (Asia) relationship manager Lam Chun-yin was sentenced to four years in prison after admitting to accepting more than $470,000 in USDT bribes to authenticate fake bank instruments worth over $1.6 billion.

The case highlights how stablecoins are increasingly being used within sophisticated financial schemes, while also showing that crypto payments are not necessarily beyond the reach of investigators. The scheme was uncovered through CCB Asia’s internal investigation, with Lam ordered to repay around HK$3.7 million, while authorities continue pursuing other people allegedly involved.

As crypto moves deeper into banking, payments, and traditional financial infrastructure, compliance and enforcement are becoming just as important as adoption. The case comes as Hong Kong continues expanding its regulated digital-asset and tokenization framework, keeping the industry’s growth closely tied to stronger oversight. Zcash Takes Centerstage

Zcash is making another strong appearance in the institutional crypto market as Grayscale prepares to split its Zcash ETF shares. The ZCSH fund will undergo a 3-for-1 forward split, giving shareholders two additional shares for every share held as of the September 28 record date. The split comes after ZCSH surpassed $500 million in assets within just two weeks of its August launch, while ZEC has continued its sharp rally.

The split is scheduled to take effect after the September 29 market close, with adjusted trading expected to begin on September 30. While the number of shares will triple, the value of each share and the fund’s NAV per share will fall proportionally, meaning the split itself does not change an investor’s total position value. ZCSH will retain its ticker and NYSE Arca listing as Grayscale expands its exposure to one of crypto’s strongest-performing assets.

The move comes as Zcash gains renewed attention from investors, institutions, and developers, with the network also preparing for its NU7 upgrade later this year. Together, the ETF’s rapid growth and ZEC’s rally highlight how privacy-focused assets are finding a larger place within regulated crypto markets. Private Markets Onchain

Binance Wallet is pushing deeper into private markets by opening access to tokenized pre-IPO opportunities through PancakeSwap. The new Pre-Access campaigns allow eligible users to gain indirect economic exposure to private companies before a potential public listing, bringing traditionally restricted opportunities onto crypto rails. The first project has yet to be announced, with campaign-specific pricing, eligibility, and allocation details still to come.

The products do not represent direct ownership of company shares and provide no voting rights, dividends, or shareholder status. Instead, third-party providers structure the exposure, while allocations can depend on Alpha Points, Trencher Badge status, and users’ bStocks On-Chain Tier. Binance Wallet serves as the access interface, while PancakeSwap and the relevant providers handle subscriptions, allocations, claims, refunds, and settlement.

The launch adds another layer to the growing convergence between crypto infrastructure and traditional private markets. With tokenized stocks, pre-IPO derivatives, and now tokenized private-company exposure expanding across major platforms, blockchain is increasingly being used to bring new forms of market access onchain. Here’s what you need to know from today’s crypto market.☕

Ethereum Prepares Quantum

Ethereum is putting a hard deadline on one of crypto’s biggest long-term security challenges. The Ethereum Foundation’s Protocol Cluster is targeting December 2029 to make Ethereum’s Layer 1 quantum-resistant across execution, consensus, and data, while the upcoming Hegotá upgrade begins laying the groundwork for that transition. The roadmap treats quantum resistance as a core development priority rather than a distant research problem.

Hegotá, currently planned for 2027, will include Frame Transactions, which could give Ethereum accounts more flexible validation, key rotation, and eventually the ability to adopt quantum-resistant authentication without moving funds to a new address. The upgrade is also being developed alongside work on censorship resistance, privacy, faster finality, and zero-knowledge technology. Much of the broader roadmap remains under development, meaning the exact sequence of future upgrades could still change.

Ethereum’s approach reflects a wider effort to prepare blockchain infrastructure for threats that may be years away but could require major changes to network security. By setting a 2029 target, developers are giving themselves several upgrade cycles to test and deploy new cryptographic systems before a practical quantum threat emerges.
