Hey crypto addicts,

Bitcoin enters one of its most important weeks in recent months as traders prepare for a series of major macroeconomic events that could shape price action across the broader crypto market. Key economic data releases, central bank expectations and shifts in global risk sentiment are all expected to influence whether Bitcoin can build bullish momentum or face renewed selling pressure.

Markets will be closely watching inflation data, employment figures and interest rate expectations, as these factors continue to drive investor appetite for risk assets. Stronger-than-expected economic data could reduce expectations for monetary easing, while weaker figures may improve the outlook for liquidity and provide support for Bitcoin and the wider digital asset market.

With several high-impact macro events arriving in a short period, volatility is expected to increase throughout the week. For crypto investors, this could become a defining moment, as Bitcoin's reaction to these developments may set the tone for market direction over the coming weeks. ☕

PayPal Expands Stablecoins

PayPal is accelerating its stablecoin strategy after reporting $486.4 billion in total payment volume for the quarter, highlighting the growing role digital assets are expected to play in the company's future. Management said its PYUSD stablecoin remains a key part of its long-term payments ecosystem as it looks to expand real-world blockchain use cases.

The company is focused on increasing adoption of PYUSD across payments, commerce and cross-border transactions, aiming to integrate stablecoins more deeply into its existing financial services. The strategy reflects PayPal's commitment to bridging traditional finance with blockchain technology.

As stablecoin competition continues to intensify, PayPal is positioning itself as a major player in digital payments. Continued growth in PYUSD adoption could strengthen the company's role in bringing blockchain-based payments to mainstream consumers and businesses. ☕

Prediction Markets Surge

Prediction markets reached a record $50.6 billion in trading volume during July, highlighting explosive growth as more investors turn to event-based markets to speculate on everything from politics and economics to crypto and global events. The surge reflects increasing mainstream adoption and growing demand for real-time market forecasting.

Much of the growth has been driven by platforms expanding their product offerings and attracting institutional interest alongside retail traders. As liquidity continues to increase, prediction markets are becoming a valuable source of crowd-driven insights into future events and market expectations.

The record month demonstrates how prediction markets are evolving into a significant part of the digital asset ecosystem. As participation continues to rise and regulatory frameworks develop, these platforms are expected to play an increasingly important role in forecasting global events and financial trends.

BitGo Tests AI

BitGo CEO Mike Belshe has launched a bold public challenge by placing 100 Bitcoin into a wallet and inviting Anthropic's Claude AI to try and move the funds. The experiment was designed to test claims about AI's cybersecurity capabilities while demonstrating the strength of modern Bitcoin custody and wallet security.

The challenge follows recent discussions about advanced AI systems identifying and exploiting security vulnerabilities. By putting real Bitcoin on the line, Belshe aims to show that properly secured Bitcoin wallets remain highly resistant to attack, even as artificial intelligence becomes more sophisticated.

So far, the 100 BTC remains untouched, reinforcing confidence in Bitcoin's cryptographic security and institutional custody solutions. The experiment also highlights the growing intersection between AI and cybersecurity, as technology companies continue exploring both the capabilities and limitations of advanced AI systems. ☕

Bitcoin has climbed back above $62,000, but underlying demand from US investors remains weak as the Coinbase Premium Index has now stayed negative for 77 consecutive days, its longest streak on record. The persistent negative premium suggests US institutions are still showing limited buying interest despite the recent recovery, with much of the demand coming from offshore markets instead.

Strategy has kept the dividend on its STRC preferred shares at 12% for August, despite the stock continuing to trade well below its $100 par value. Investors had expected another dividend increase after the shares spent much of July under par, but the company opted to leave the payout unchanged while reaffirming its long-term goal of returning STRC to the $99–$100 range.

This week's crypto headlines were dominated by a major Coldcard hardware wallet exploit that has now resulted in more than $70 million worth of stolen Bitcoin, reigniting concerns around self-custody and prompting many holders to move funds to exchanges or alternative storage solutions. At the same time, uncertainty continues to surround the US Clarity Act as time runs short for a Senate vote.
