Hey crypto addicts,

Bitcoin’s oldest holders are becoming increasingly active, with coins dormant for more than five years now showing roughly double the spending activity seen in May. The 90-day average of spent outputs from this group has climbed to around 1,500 BTC as Bitcoin continues trading in a relatively tight range.

The increase does not necessarily mean these long-term holders are selling. Old BTC can move for several reasons, including changing custody, consolidating wallets, moving funds to safer storage, or preparing for a potential sale. Recent security concerns have also encouraged some holders to relocate their coins.

Still, the rise in OG activity is worth watching. When long-dormant Bitcoin begins moving at higher levels, it can signal changing sentiment among some of the market’s oldest participants. With Bitcoin struggling to establish a sustained move above $80,000, these movements could become an important indicator of what comes next.☕

Oracle Failure Strikes

Starknet lending protocol Vesu suffered a major oracle incident after faulty price data from Pragma triggered abnormal liquidations across several lending pools. In just two minutes, 47 positions were liquidated, affecting around $3 million in user collateral.

Vesu said its smart contracts were operating as designed and that the incident was caused by incorrect pricing data rather than a vulnerability in the protocol itself. Pragma has since fixed the issue, while affected pools were temporarily paused as teams investigated the incident and worked on recovery efforts.

The event highlights one of DeFi’s biggest risks: smart contracts can execute perfectly while still producing damaging results when they receive bad data. As lending protocols become more sophisticated, reliable oracle infrastructure remains critical to protecting users and preventing similar liquidation events.☕

Router Calls It Quits

Router Protocol is shutting down after more than four years of building cross-chain infrastructure, with the project planning to close all remaining operations by September 30. The team said weak revenue, rising infrastructure costs and intense competition in the bridging sector left it without a sustainable path forward.

As part of the shutdown, Router plans to permanently burn 303.3 million ROUTE tokens held in its treasury, representing more than 30% of the token’s maximum supply. The project will also work with centralized exchanges on delistings, with each platform setting its own withdrawal deadlines for holders.

The shutdown highlights the difficult economics facing crypto infrastructure projects. With bridge fees under pressure and capital increasingly flowing toward areas such as AI, even established projects are struggling to maintain sustainable business models. Router’s exit could become another example of how quickly the crypto infrastructure landscape is changing.☕

Ripple Adds Heavyweight

Ripple is adding former Reserve Bank of India governor Raghuram Rajan to its upcoming Swell conference, bringing one of India’s most prominent financial figures into the conversation around digital assets and global finance.

Rajan, who also served as chief economic adviser to India’s government and held senior roles at the IMF, is expected to contribute his perspective on monetary policy, financial markets and the evolving role of blockchain technology.

His participation highlights how crypto conferences are increasingly attracting established policymakers and financial leaders. As digital assets move closer to traditional finance, conversations around regulation, payments and monetary systems are becoming increasingly important.☕
