Hey crypto addicts,
Bitcoin is holding near $78,000 despite renewed U.S.-Iran tensions sending oil prices higher and weighing on global markets. Brent crude climbed above $90 as concerns over disruptions around the Strait of Hormuz returned, while markets also increased bets on a potential Federal Reserve rate hike.
Despite the broader risk-off environment, Bitcoin has remained relatively resilient and is on track for a strong August, outperforming both gold and the Nasdaq. However, recent ETF outflows suggest institutional demand may be starting to cool after a strong period of inflows.
With geopolitical tensions, rising oil prices, interest-rate expectations, and upcoming U.S. economic data all influencing markets, Bitcoin could face increased volatility heading into September. The key question now is whether BTC can maintain its strength if macro pressure continues to build.☕

Sei Targets 200K TPS

Sei has begun rolling out its Eidos upgrade as part of its broader Giga roadmap, which aims to push the network toward 200,000 transactions per second. The upgrade focuses on improving Sei’s storage architecture by separating EVM data into a dedicated database, helping reduce competition between historical data and live transaction processing.
The rollout will happen in phases, with technologies such as FlatKV, LtHash, improved receipt storage, and off-chain archival systems planned for later stages. The migration is also being carried out while the network remains online, allowing the existing and new storage systems to operate alongside each other.
If successfully implemented, Sei’s roadmap could significantly increase its transaction capacity and strengthen its position as a high-performance Layer-1 blockchain. For now, however, the 200,000 TPS target remains a future objective, with additional upgrades still required before the network can reach that level.☕
Cosmos EVM Exploit

A critical vulnerability in the shared Cosmos EVM software has been exploited across six blockchain networks, including MANTRA, TAC, and KiiChain. Attackers were able to manipulate token balances and drain legitimate assets, with total losses estimated at around $5.7 million.
The vulnerability stemmed from inconsistencies between Cosmos EVM and the Cosmos SDK when handling certain token balances. Attackers combined multiple flaws in a single transaction to extract funds without creating an equivalent increase in total supply.
Cosmos Labs coordinated with around 40 networks to assess the threat and distribute patches, while several affected chains halted operations to contain the attacks. The incident highlights the risks of shared blockchain infrastructure, where a single vulnerability can spread across multiple independent networks and turn a software flaw into a wider ecosystem-wide security event. ☕
Crypto Buyback Boom

Crypto projects have spent a record $638 million buying back their own tokens in 2026, up from $545 million during the same period last year. The surge shows how more protocols are using revenue-funded buybacks to support token demand and reduce circulating supply.
However, the activity remains heavily concentrated, with Hyperliquid and Pump.fun accounting for nearly 90% of total buybacks. Hyperliquid directs most eligible trading fees toward automated HYPE purchases and permanent burns, while Pump.fun uses part of its revenue to buy and burn PUMP.
The growing use of buybacks signals a shift toward crypto projects returning more of their revenue to token holders. But buybacks are not a guaranteed price catalyst, as token emissions, unlocks, revenue growth, and overall market demand can still outweigh the impact of reduced supply.☕

Polygon has disclosed several security vulnerabilities in its proof-of-stake network that were already fixed through the recent Austin and Kyoto hard forks. The flaws affected the Bor and Heimdall clients and included denial-of-service risks, validator resource exhaustion, and issues with checkpoint processing.
